Let me ask you a few questions… Do you ever feel like your mind is racing? Do you get anxious and feel overwhelmed? Are you constantly battling the noise inside and around you? Maybe you just have a hard time focusing on your short-term and long-term goals. Well you’re certainly not alone, but you alone can decide if you want to actively take control of your mind and find inner peace.
Our minds are both our greatest asset and adversary. We can learn to calm our minds and focus on our goals without popping pills or going to a psychologist. Mashrur and I are beginning to learn and practice Transcendental Meditation (TM), and I encourage you to try it as well. This natural practice isn’t a religion or a belief. In fact, you don’t have to believe in it at all, just try it for 2 weeks and see if it helps.
How does TM make you feel? Once the surface of your mind’s chatter falls or “transcends” into the depths of your being, you will experience the quiet serenity of your mind. Being content in this dark nothingness is similar to how you feel right before you fall asleep. According to the TM website, this technique has been shown to improve mental health by achieving a balanced mind resulting in decreased stress while becoming more efficient and productive in all different aspects of your life.
Learning and practicing TM doesn’t have to cost you anything except for you to invest time in yourself. I’m not qualified to teach you how to practice TM, but I promise it’s not complicated. If you’re interested, I encourage you to check out the official Transcendental Meditation website for more information and watch this video. You can find other free online resources by searching on Google, YouTube, etc. to learn about this technique.
Wishing you inner peace; it’s the greatest gift you can give yourself!
